Develops familiarity with departmental design standards, applicable structural engineering codes and Kiewit policies, guidelines, and standards
Calculates cost and quantity estimates for project based on analysis of collected data
Work closely under supervision by a more experienced engineer
Prepares basic engineering calculations and follows standard methods and principles expected for the type of engineering analysis
Review vendor drawings for structural accuracy and construction commodities
Perform work safely and effectively. Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies.
Prepares basic design sketches and drawings for drafting and incorporation into final plans
May inspect construction sites to monitor progress and ensure conformance to engineering drawings, specifications, and construction
Communicate with other disciplines to coordinate design interfacing issues
Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines. Work overtime and weekends as required.
Assist in checking various calculations, prepared drawings, and documents as assigned using established guidelines.

Completion of a strength of materials course covering statics and dynamics
Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment.
Regular, reliable attendance
Completion of a fundamental structural analysis course, including computer applications
Proficiency with basic spreadsheet, database, and word processing programs
Experience with SAP2000, Mathcad, and Navisworks is advantageous
Understands, contributes to, and adheres to Kiewit Nuclear Solution’s quality program requirements and objectives
Work productively and meet deadlines timely
Must be a US citizen with documentation for badge access
Completion of a fundamentals of steel design course and/or a fundamentals of concrete design course
Pass a security questionnaire and background check appropriate to position duties
Enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program in civil or architectural engineering (with a structural emphasis) or structural engineering from an ABET-accredited college or university
Minimum GPA of 3.0 preferred
Familiarity with basic structural analysis software, engineering software, and CADD software for reviewing drafters' work
