Tasks
Conduct periodic visits to construction sites to monitor quality and progress of the work Coordinate with government agencies, client staff, and other professionals to obtain design information and approvals May have responsibility for multiple direct reports Performs, provides training for, and guides quality assurance, ensuring projects get carried out as designed and recommend modifications as needed Perform AutoCAD Civil 3D design/drafting in support of civil engineering design projects Tabulate bid items and calculate construction bid quantities from plans and specifications. Prepares, provides training, provides guidance, and reviews engineering designs and reports which includes design calculations and plan preparation Perform engineering calculations in support of civil engineering design projects Performs, trains, and provides guidance for site investigations, survey work, CAD work, and data collection Manage projects including client communications, public input and feedback, and internal support Estimate construction costs The Civil Engineer will provide design and plan production for general civil design on a wide variety of projects which may include site layouts, horizontal and vertical control, grading and drainage, paving, site utilities, and associated civil engineering activities. Will perform complex assignments exercising judgment in evaluation, selection, and modification of standard engineering techniques and procedures. Write and edit construction specifications and engineering reports -All the utilities, drainage, site layout, and material inspections for a new 23 story hotel. -Guide the development of a large apartment complex, from concept to an open house. -Figure out how to keep an electrical substation built in a floodplain, from flooding. -Take a scenic wooded lot and guide its development into a high-end campground.

What You Bring
Knowledge of financing and funding including public and private sources Consistently exercises discretion and judgment in all work tasks Ability to plan, schedule work and complete work assignments within established budgets and timelines Capable of working with a multidisciplinary team of planners, engineers, surveyors, architects, and technicians Aptitude and demonstrated hands-on experience with computer applications such as AutoCAD Civil 3D Strong written and verbal communication skills Broad computer knowledge in particular Microsoft Office products Mentoring capability Broad knowledgebase of civil engineering projects rather than a subject matter expert in any one civil engineering area Ability to identify engineering and surveying services needed by the client and the ability to draft proposals and estimate fees -5+ years of experience managing site development and land transformation -Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field -5+ years of experience in A/E/C industry with record of client retention/attraction
