The Role

Create and implement daily wellness programs for dementia residents.

Tasks

-Understand and comply with all Federal, State, and local regulations, and all company policies and procedures concerning the department -Encourage and instruct team members to build relationships with residents, communicate effectively with them, and support their abilities -Plan group experiences by reviewing Lifestyle Surveys and finding common needs and interests -Review the Lifestyle Survey for each new resident prior to move-in and create a plan to welcome and integrate the resident into the Wellness Program beginning on move-in day -Attend required Teams calls and trainings -Highlight Wellness Programs during tours or when other guests are present -Maintain a safe and secure environment for all staff, residents, and guests following established safety standards, policies, and procedures -Optimize the use of MBK-provided content, ie. iN2L, Eversound, Joy for All Companion Pets, SingFit, etc. -Executing exceptional signature programs in dining, fitness, wellness, and care -Effectively manage program supplies and services budget -Assist the team to find better ways to meet residents’ needs when they express distress through verbal or nonverbal communication -Maintain a list of residents who have given consent for media posting -Contribute to inter-community discussions and projects on Teams groups and channels -Take videos and photos of Wellness Programs and provide them for posting on the community’s Facebook page or other social media -Partner with the Connections for Living Director on family education and support -Create and execute daily Wellness Program using the Daily Flow structure -Minimize waste and misuse of supplies and equipment -Push a resident safely in a wheelchair -Manage expenses within established monthly and annual budgets -Assist in moving residents in emergency situations -Collaborate with the Director of Wellness Programming and Director of Health Services to ensure that each member of the program has programming needs documented in their service plan. -Identify resident’s interests, needs, and potential roles in the first 30 days after move in and incorporate them into the neighborhood’s Wellness Program plan -Ensure that adequate and appropriate supplies are always available for team members to initiate individual, small group, and large group experiences -Contribute content to community bulletins, photo collections and social media postings -Promote and lead with a spirit of teamwork and open communication in accordance with the MBK principles and core values -Provide training and support to ensure that Wellness Programs are conducted when the Wellness Program Leader is not present, including evenings and days off

What You Bring

-Basic knowledge of Alzheimer’s Disease and other dementias -High school diploma or GED -Associates Degree in psychology, social services, gerontology, social work, nursing, or recreational therapy preferred -Ability to communicate sensitively and professionally with team members, residents, family members, and guests at all times -Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, etc.) -Ability to empathize with others, understand their needs, and respond in a helpful way -Understanding and compliance with all regulations regarding Resident’s Rights -Background clearance (per government regulations) -Prior work experience in a similar role supporting people living with dementia or other cognitive difference -Willingness to work TUE-SAT or SUN-THU schedule -Walk up to 5 miles per shift -Lift 25+ pounds -Certified dementia practitioner or similar certification preferred -Current First Aid Certification -Negative TB test -Over the age of 18 -Exert 10-25 lbs. of force occasionally and/or frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects -Communicate with caring and professionalism with residents, team members, family members, and other guests -Willingness to provide compassionate care for persons with dementia including resulting behavioral expressions -Bend, kneel, squat, sit, reach -Excellent communication skills, including ability to speak, write, and read English
