The Role

Overview

Design fire sprinkler systems, perform calculations, coordinate projects, ensure code compliance.

Tasks

-Interpret and apply applicable NFPA standards to the design and/or layout of the sprinkler systems based on the building type, construction type, hazard classification and architectural features. -Work closely with the Estimation department , Design Manager, and Operations Manager to review the scope sheet and requirements of each project. -Coordinate projects to meet delivery date s. -Actively participate in predesign and review meetings. -Coordinate with team members for permitting and inspection requirements. -Coordinate with team members for listing of required materials. -Identify opportunities for cost-saving measures and quality improvemen t -Communicate with AHJs, contractors, and other trades. -Adhere to company safety policies and procedures to ensure all duties are performed in a safe and professional manner -Read and interpret construction documents, including drawings, specifications, and contracts . -Perform field check of completed design to verify accurac y , if required . -Provide outstanding customer service -Coordinate sprinkler system piping with other building components. Perform hydraulic calculations. -Design and layout sprinkler systems using specialized CAD software packages that are based on the AutoCAD platform.

What You Bring

-Strong knowledge of industry codes such as IFC, NFPA, IBC, and NEC -Ability to work in a fast-paced service/construction team environment -NICET Level I - IV certification is preferred -High School d iploma or GED is required -Ability to travel as needed -RME-G Required -Excellent verbal and written communication skills -Must have experience with designing fire sprinkler systems -Ability to maintain accurate and auditable records -Experience with a variety of system types and manufacturers -Proficient in AutoCA D and M icrosoft Office is required . HydraCAD is preferred. -Ability to read and interpret architectural, electrical , and mechanical drawings -Visualizes 3D concepts and solves basic mathematic problems, including geometry and algebra -Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook -Proficient in interpreting and applying applicable NFPA standards, and in reading and interpreting construction documents. -25% driving -Minimum Experience: 5 + years Fire Protection Design experience or a Fire Sprinkler Design Degree
