The Role

Overview

Technical field engineer overseeing MEP/systems compliance on heavy civil projects.

Tasks

-Research and resolve drawing interpretations problems, conflicts, interferences, and the like. -Perform additional assignments per supervisor’s direction. -Coordinates with subcontractors on advance material acquisitions and pre-construction deliverables. -Ensure as-builts updated as required by contract. -Support planning and technical issues. Prepares construction work plan packages and coordinates pre-construction meetings while ensuring that all prerequisites to start construction activities are identified and completed. -Reviews project plans and develops a construction schedule in coordination with project-wide activities. -Maintains a safe, clean and productive environment through enforcing procedures. -Monitors and participates daily in field construction process. Provides layout checks and technical reviews of work against requirements. -Identifies and resolves changing site conditions or other impacts during planning of the work. -Prepares, updates and distributes work activity schedules/updates, and communicates across discipline groups and agencies to ensure proper advance notifications and coordination of start times. -Read and interpret Contract, Drawings, Specifications, Standards, and related technical documents in order to maintain the construction schedule in coordination with project-wide activities. -Assists in preparing monthly reporting for progress payments, schedule updates, and problem/issue tracking and resolution. Provides accurate and factual assessments of project performance. -Coordinate Field Engineering activities with Construction Superintendents and Quality team. -Maintains project integrity and reputation through compliance with high standards of workplace safety and construction best practices. -Manage the effective utilization of technical expertise within the Project Management team. -Manage the preparation of RFI’s and related construction submittals. -Field verify to ensure construction is completed in accordance with plans, specifications and contract.

What You Bring

-Proficient with Microsoft Office Suites. -Adherence to safe work practices -Team player and good interpersonal skills -Ability to develop in-depth understanding of QA/QC manuals and programs. -Thorough understanding of industry practices, processes, standards, etc. and their impact on project activities is vital. -Must understand fundamentals of contracting and have familiarity with large scale mass transit / transportation projects. -Familiarity in measuring and tracking quantities of work performed -Previous experience MEP, Traction Power, Communications or Train Control systems a plus -Experience with MEP, Track & Rail Systems and heavy civil construction preferred. -Superior communication and interpersonal skills such as tact, diplomacy, influence, etc. are essential. -Work experience in all heavy civil construction preferred. -Bachelor’s degree in engineering or construction management or equivalent required. -Minimum five (5) years of experience working with a Heavy Civil, Trackwork, Electrical or Systems Contractor.
