HDD Operator w/ CDL

Overview

Operate horizontal directional drill to install underground conduit and perform related tasks.

Tasks

-Assist in potholing and remediation -Set equipment up including the drill, water tanks and grounding the machine -Assist with setting hand holes and completing tie ins -Communicates with Supervisor daily to turn in required paperwork (i.e. Bore log, vehicle maintenance reports, etc.) -Assist with the install of proper pulling gear and hook up product -Reverse process to install product -Conduct post-job quality checks -Oversee laborers and/or crew member’s work and monitor time usage -Communicate with the locator/lead via radio to confirm the location of the drill head -Operate Horizontal Directional Drill -Clean, check fluid levels and conduct a visual inspection of vehicle/equipment to assure your vehicle/equipment is performing at optimum safety, perform the required pre-trip, post trip inspections and the required paperwork, perform needed maintenance including winterizing equipment. -Drive equipment to job site -Drill out following the predetermined drill path to the exit pit -Confirms with locator/lead the bore path to drill

What You Bring

-Ability to work well independently and as a part of a team with co-workers -English usage sufficient to keep records, place orders, and prepare simple narrative reports -Working knowledge of DOT regulations (Vehicle and Operator Qualifications) -Knowledge of underground pot holing preferred -Ability to lift up to 80 lbs multiple times during a work shift -Strong knowledge of underground utilities -Ability to work in all types of weather -Ability to climb, dig, work in tight spaces, on uneven surfaces, walking, stooping, and kneeling -Understanding of client and company work specifications -Ability to read and comprehend and follow all quality/safety policies and procedures -Ability to pass motor vehicle, criminal background check, and comply with drug-free workplace policy -Ability to comply with the “Operator’s Manual” for your equipment -Candidates must pass criminal and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) background checks and pass a pre-employment drug screen. -Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid State of Residence Driver’s License is required within two weeks of employment. -Ability to understand and follow specific oral and written instructions -Ability to perform heavy manual labor for extended periods, often under adverse climatic conditions. -CDL A a plus -Self-motivated, safety, quality and production minded -1+ years of demonstrated Horizontal Directional Drilling experience
