The Role

Overview

Install, service, and maintain security access control systems while mentoring staff.

Tasks

-Perform regular system inspections including evaluating condition, identifying necessary repairs and recommending preventative maintenance -Maintain assigned tools, vehicle and equipment -Use and understand company software for completion of service tickets, logging time, and obtaining job specific information -Obtain and maintain necessary licenses and certification -Install project specific cabling or piping per specifications and applicable building, electrical, and fire alarm codes -Monitor the installation work of outside contractors for ensuring that the projects are satisfactorily completed to state and local codes, regulations, and project specifics -Coordinate with assigned project manager and/or other trades for completing projects and work orders efficiently and on time -Attend job specific training sessions -Troubleshoot and diagnose system problems or failures and identify equipment and/or components that require repair -Follow company mandated safety policies -Work off lifts of all sizes and heights, and obtain lift certification -Use computers, laptops, and specialized interface and/or programming software to program and set up security, access, CCTV, or sound systems and associated devices -Have and maintain manufacturer certifications pertaining to systems being programmed -Attend manufacturer and company specified training programs -Install project specific devices including but not limited to Fire, Suppression, CCTV, Intrusion, Access, Nurse Call, etc. per specifications and applicable building, electrical, and fire alarm codes -Periodically travel out of normal service area when necessary

What You Bring

-Communicate with others verbally and in writing -Must be able to operate hand and power tools -High school diploma -Must be able to travel out of town up 25% of the time -Must be able to safely drive company owned vehicle or personal vehicle for the purpose of IPS business. -Must have a demeanor to work well with a variety of customer personalities -Maximum unassisted lift = 75lbs -Must be available to participate in after-hours on-call rotation with other technicians. -Must have 3-5 years of experience as a security technician or other relative industry experience -Lenel, DMP, Brivo or other similar access control experience -Must be able to unload, carry, and climb ladders -OSHA-10 or OSHA-30 hour certification -Required to stand and walk -Read and understand system diagrams, project and as-built drawings -Willing to learn new products and services -All employees of IPS are subject to random drug testing per our Drug Free Safety Policy -Background check required. Must have and maintain a clean driving record (no DUIs or other serious violations within the past three years). -Must be able to bend, kneel, stoop, crawl, climb ladders (both caged and un-caged) as well as stairs and other equipment. -Must maintain lift, confined space, and other required safety certifications for our industry -Must maintain First Aid and CPR Certification -Willing to work after normal business hours and weekends -Must be efficient and productive in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment -Must possess excellent customer service skills for both internal and external customers -Must be able to navigate company software, enter data, and send communication. Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel a plus.
