The Role

Temporary summer civil engineering intern assisting with design and site work.

Tasks

-Attend client meetings and represent the civil interests of the firm -Plan and design transportation or hydraulic systems and structures, following construction and government standards using design software -Communicate project status with the Project Manager, client, and any other relevant parties -Prepare site grading and utility plans, hydraulic calculations, and prepare construction documents for permitting -Analyze and produce designs for stormwater, sewer, pipeline, parking, sidewalks, roadway, etc. using design software -Analyze and interpret survey reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, aerial photography, and other topographical or geologic data to plan projects -Compute load and grade requirements, water flow rates, or material stress factors to determine design specifications -Prepare reports and document project activities and data -Accompany engineers on site visits to view ongoing company projects.

What You Bring

-Enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering from an ABET-accredited program -Excellent interpersonal & communication skills. Connections are a critical part of how we work. -12-18 hours of Civil engineering courses -Exposure to AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microsoft Office. Other relevant programs could include HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, ArcGIS, or Bluebeam
