The Role

Overview

Create, update, and manage technical documents for military research/manufacturing.

Tasks

-Research and synthesize information from diverse sources such as online documentation, technical manuals, engineering drawings, project plans, assembly instructions, bills of materials, SolidWorks 3D models, and testing protocols. -Collaborate with subject matter experts to develop and finalize deliverable documents. -Participate in face-to-face meetings with technical experts to maintain project timelines. -Create, update, and manage technical documents including user guides, training materials, maintenance instructions, service bulletins, installation procedures, overhaul and repair guides, test documentation, and software manuals. -Take part in formal design reviews, documenting key points and action items. -Attend bi-weekly meetings with customers and the Integrated Product Team (IPT). -Record meeting notes, track action items, and ensure timely follow-up. -Provide regular updates and progress reports to technical staff, program managers, executives, and clients. -Ensure all documentation is clear, accurate, and easy to understand, utilizing visuals to enhance comprehension.

What You Bring

-Knowledge of military and industry standards, including AS9100 quality systems, is preferred. -Hands-on experience with operational manuals, proposals, and technical reports. -Demonstrated experience producing operational manuals. -Willingness to learn software analysis techniques (preferred). -Capable of working independently, managing multiple priorities, and meeting deadlines. -Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (such as Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline), or completion of a technical/scientific certification program. -Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel). -Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. -Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. -Familiarity with MS Project, CAD software, and graphic design tools is advantageous. -At least five years of technical writing experience within a military research or manufacturing setting. -Ability to interpret and analyze technical specifications.
