The Role

Tasks

Building and maintaining relationships with suppliers and service providers Assist in job control using our fleet management software Liaise with operational departments to arrange and schedule R&M service dates to manage vehicle availability and downtime Maintain records of inspections, licences and certifications Support the day-to-day operations, including supervising and mentoring a small team of operatives, achieving the highest standard of output and quality Provide maintenance and technical support of minor vehicle repairs and machinery, ensuring duties are carried out safely and effectively With a clear succession plan, this role will support the Engineering Manager in assisting with overseeing the maintenance, minor repairs, and operational efficiency of the company's vehicle fleet, as well as the maintenance and repair of all company assets across the business. Undertake driver daily checks and vehicle inspection audits Ordering of equipment and resources Managing the maintenance schedule for the fleet of 46+ vehicles plus plant equipment and machinery, ensuring that the fleet complies with all regulations and standards

What You Bring

The ability to identify and resolve technical and operational issues Ensuring that the fleet is maintained, reliable and safe, this role requires a strong technical background ensuring that safety and regulation standards are met and are compliant. The ability to communicate clearly and confidently with a range of people, driving forward the company values with strong teamwork skills The ability to make informed decisions with the ability to work under pressure (Plant equipment would also be desirable but not essential) Previous experience with HGVs is essential Competent in providing a professional approach at all times when interacting with all members of staff and third parties Experienced with a IRTEC Inspection Technician Licence (NVQ Level 3, HGV maintenance and Repair) is essential Waste industry knowledge, including specific mobile compaction experience is desirable Strong background and understanding of vehicle mechanics, maintenance and repair procedures
