Tasks
-Follows safety, quality, and operational procedures -Participates in safety meetings -Utilizes a Remote Methane Leak Detector (RLMD) or similar device to detect natural gas leaks -Grades gas leaks by level of severity and reports/escalates accordingly -Provides timely reports and documentation to management per procedures -Follows sketches and diagrams to identify gas line locations -Collects data using handheld computer or other collection device -Surveys gas leaks by walking from site to site -Extensively walk and stand for much of the workday -Follows strict Utility, State and Federal guidelines relating to surveying, grading, and reporting gas leaks -May provide general information about services to customers, when applicable -Completes assigned routes and work orders on the assigned date -Performs visual inspections of gas meters, lines and fittings -Refers all consumer complaints to the appropriate authorities -Use telephones, tablets, and/or computers to communicate

-Ability to walk long distances and prepare for weather conditions, accordingly -Drug/alcohol testing required per Federal DOT regulations for employees working with gas meters -Ability to interact with unhappy or negative customers in a professional manner -Exceptional flexibility in scheduling -Do not enjoy walking long distances -Excellent attention to detail for problem solving and finding -Ability to multi-task and work independently as well as a team -Are not flexible and do not enjoy adapting to your current work schedule or routine -Education: High School Diploma or GED -Do not have adequate planning and time management skills to finish a days work in a timely manner -Shows courtesy and professionalism when dealing with customers and other employees -Drug/alcohol testing required per Non-Regulatory requirements for employees working with water, electric, and meters -Exert physical force moving objects (routinely 10lbs of force, up to an occasional 50lbs of force) -Adequate time management skills to work in a timely manner -Excellent communication skills, comfortable interacting with management and customers -Experience: 1 or more years of experience in gas services; 2 years of continuous work with the same employer, and/or 1 or more years working outdoors. -Do not enjoy working in outdoor conditions -Drug/alcohol testing is required -Walk for long distances in various weather conditions (rain, sleet, hail, snow, extreme heat or cold, etc.) -Experience: 1 year of continuous work with the same employer, and/or 6 or more months working outdoors. Upon hire, the candidate will need to complete and pass all Pipeline Operator Qualification (OQ) training. Must possess a valid driver’s license.
