The Role

Lead field engineering for heavy civil projects, overseeing teams and ensuring compliance.

Tasks

-Collaborate with preconstruction and estimating teams to provide technical input during bid development. -Provide technical guidance to field teams and ensure adherence to engineering standards. -Mentor and manage junior field engineers, assigning tasks and reviewing performance. -Develop and maintain project schedules, work plans, and progress tracking tools. -Assist in contract administration and ensure documentation aligns with project requirements. -Support transition from estimating to execution by ensuring continuity of technical knowledge. -Conduct field assessments to optimize construction operations and improve profitability. -Participate in project meetings and contribute to strategic planning and execution. -Provide constructability reviews and value engineering suggestions during the estimating phase. -Perform work safely and effectively. Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies. -Ensure compliance with contract specifications and quality standards. -Lead and oversee daily field engineering activities on water infrastructure projects. -Coordinate with Superintendents to align engineering support with construction sequencing and priorities. -Interface with vendors and subcontractors to ensure technical alignment and timely deliverables. -Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines. Work overtime and weekends as required. -Review and manage construction documentation, RFIs, submittals, and change orders. -Evaluate subcontractor and vendor proposals for scope, pricing, and compliance. -Analyze drawings, specifications, and historical data to support accurate cost estimates. -Support cost reporting, forecasting, and budget analysis in collaboration with project controls.

What You Bring

-Proficient in construction software (Primavera, Procore, Bluebeam, etc.). -Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment. -Regular, reliable attendance -Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field. -Work productively and meet deadlines timely -Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities. -Deep understanding of construction contracts, project controls, and cost management. -Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. -3+ years of experience in field engineering, preferably in transportation/heavy civil infrastructure.
