The Role

Overview

Maintain and service heavy equipment and vehicles, performing inspections, repairs and diagnostics.

Tasks

-Requests spare parts. -Use hand-held computers or other diagnostic devices to diagnose components in need of adjustment or repair. -Observes mechanical devices in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble. -Travel to job site to make repairs to heavy equipment as necessary. -Repair, replace, clean, and lubricate vehicle/equipment parts as necessary. -Examine critical parts and operating components of heavy equipment for possible wear and tear, defects, or other damage. -Maintains a high level of customer satisfaction. -Maintains a safe work environment and ensures all established Company safety rules, procedures, policies, DOT, OSHA and MSHA regulations are followed. -May be required to rebuild or replace engines, repair hydraulic fluid pumps, correct electrical problems. -Perform routine maintenance checks on company owned and/or leased vehicles and equipment to ensure safety and longevity of the vehicle/equipment. -Start devices to test their performance. -Use Hands for Pushing/Pulling: Frequently -Use Hands for Manipulations: Frequently -Use jacks, cranes, and various hand-held tools to dismantle and reassemble parts. -Maintains a high level of workplace housekeeping. -Examine, and repair, if necessary, hydraulic components for fluid leaks, ruptured hoses, or worn gaskets.

What You Bring

-Working knowledge of diesel engine repair. -Ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal format. -Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. -Lift/Carry 20-50 lbs.: Occasionally -Must be available to work overtime as required for position. -Lift/Carry 50- over 100 lbs.: Occasionally -Aerial Lift Operator Training Certification preferred. -Be knowledgeable of the hazards and safety requirements of the job, and utilize required personal protective equipment (welder’s shield, etc.). -Lift/Carry 0-10 lbs.: Frequently -Ability to operate various types of light and heavy equipment and over the road trucks for maneuvering into service and repair locations. -Must be able to utilize electronic devices such as a smart phone to send and receive email and communicate from job site locations to corporate office and supervision. -Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, verbal, or diagram form. -Ability to locate, read, understand and follow instructions outlined in SDS material safety data sheets . -Must have a mechanical aptitude. -Lift/Carry 10-20 lbs.: Frequently -Cooperative, punctual, and detail oriented. -Must be able to work safely and follow all instructions related to Company policies and regulatory agencies during the performance of duties. -Ability to write simple correspondence. -Ability to prioritize tasks in accordance to urgency. -Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
