Operate and maintain a water treatment plant, handling equipment, testing, and shift duties.

Tasks

-Observes variations in operating conditions and interprets meter and gauge readings -Performs routine mainte¬nance functions and custodial duties -Collects samples and performs routine laboratory tests and analyses -Starts and stops pump, engines, and generators to control and adjust flow and treatment processes -Maintains shift log and records meter and gauge readings -Monitors gauges, meters, and control panels -Operates valves and gates either manually or by remote control -Operates treatment facilities to control flow and process -Establishes and maintains cooperative relationships with those contacted during work -Makes operating decisions in absence of supervisory personnel

What You Bring

-High school diploma or GED -Able to perform preventative maintenance and repairs -Understands and carries out oral and written directions -Knowledge of the principles, methods, and tools employed in the general operations of engines, pumps, and related equipment; general maintenance work; safe work practices; basic biological and chemical principles -Possess a valid driver’s license -Knowledge of distribution system tools and equipment -Understanding of various software tools to track process data and maintenance activities -Minimum 2 years of experience in operating water treatment systems -Certification at a level required by the State in which the project is located
