The Role
Overview
Assist in bid estimating, take‑offs, and preconstruction management for construction projects.

Tasks
-Assists with final assembly of estimate for presentation to owner. -Builds and maintains relationships with internal McCarthy clients. -Develops and documents logical assumptions during early-design estimating activities and applies these assumptions to takeoff tasks. -Keeps current with latest estimating technology and techniques. -Communicates with architects and consultants to clarify scope of work, materials, and schedule requirements, and documents these clarifications. -Directs, coordinates and provides information and documents to subcontractors. -After the bid, collects and organizes all bid information for future reference. -Build and maintain relationships with owners, subcontractors, vendors, internal clients and other key stakeholders in the community and at industry events. -Actively participates in the internal estimate review process. -Assists in the pricing and bidding of construction projects, handling key/complex trade categories. -Prepares contractual exhibits for scope of work for subcontracts. -Participates in hard bid/estimating and GMP budgeting activities by soliciting subcontractor support and evaluating bids. -Leads preconstruction and estimating activities on small projects. -Conducts reviews of milestone documents for the development and pricing of value alternative opportunities.

What You Bring
-Attention to detail. -Solid interpersonal and communication skills. -Working knowledge of estimating technology and tools such as OST, WinEst, Bluebeam and BIM related software. -Demonstrates basic conceptual estimating skills by interpolating data. -Proven experience managing complex work categories and/or entirety of preconstruction process for small projects. -Demonstrates behaviors consistent with McCarthy core values. -Strong math and analytical skills. -Ability to synthesize cost data from a wide range of sources into a conceptual estimate. -In-depth knowledge of construction principles and processes. -Experience dealing with subcontracts, subcontractors and/or self-perform work -Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management or Engineering and/or 3-7 years of equivalent experience required. -General knowledge of negotiated bids, hard bids, and GMP processes.
