  • Acquire a deep understanding of contract documents and project objectives.
  • Ensure accurate and complete distribution of plans and specifications to subcontractors, flagging any discrepancies.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to project teams, subcontractors, and on-site personnel, addressing any technical queries or challenges that may arise.
  • Develop technical specifications for projects per construction documents.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with clients and trade partners.
  • Research and participate in the selection of construction materials, technologies and methodologies for detailing and specifications.
  • Attend site visits as necessary to support project assessments and monitor progress.
  • Facilitate effective communication and coordination among internal and external stakeholders.
  • Lead project coordination and meetings with team members, owners, contractors, and subcontractors.
  • Develop designs through architectural drawings, models, diagrams, and other visual formats.
  • Assist in developing project plans, schedules, budgets, and resource allocations.
  • Mentor and guide junior drafting team on multi-discipline projects.
  • Oversee precise accounting for the project and maintain timely reporting to the accounting department.
  • Conduct quality assurance and quality control on own projects.
  • Evaluate and interpret building codes and compliance with applicable planning, zoning, and regulations, including coordination with jurisdictional agencies.

As a Licensed Architect at MZT, your crucial role involves creating detailed drawings of buildings and may make models and sketches to test ideas while considering the clients’ needs, budgets, and regulations. You will work with clients, contractors, project managers, and the leadership team to ensure the project meets quality standards and deadlines. You will be making site visits to existing and proposed locations. You'll regularly communicate with the client, stakeholders, and other construction professionals to tackle any project challenges. Your strong problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills are key to successfully creating functional spaces that are innovative, appealing, and satisfy the client's needs.

Technical Skills

  • Previous experience working with a Design-Build architectural firm is HIGHLY DESIRED
  • Past project experience involving any of the following special projects: design-build, LEED-certified, military construction, USACE, NAVFAC, U.S. Air Force, or any other similar forms of municipal/ public works construction
  • Solid technical and design application knowledge
  • Familiarity with Primavera P6 is preferred
  • Must have an appropriate and valid driver’s license
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and SketchUp
  • Must be currently a Licensed Architect in the State of California
  • Minimum five years of experience in the architectural-engineering industry working on construction projects of increasing complexity.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture
