The Role

Overview

Install, maintain, and troubleshoot electrical and automation systems for buildings

Tasks

-Safely troubleshoot repairs logically and efficiently -Cut, thread, bend, assemble, and install conduits and other types of electrical conductor enclosures and fittings -Install fixtures and devices for industrial applications and systems -Work in the full range of environmental conditions: including outside in all weather -Pull wire and cable through conduits, position, maintain and install distribution and control equipment such as switches, relays, circuit breaker panels, and fuse enclosures, install single and multi-wire cables above and underground, install data cabling, and install and maintain fiber optic and signaling systems

What You Bring

-Work well independently and be a team player -Certificate of Qualification as a registered Electrical Apprentice in the NSAA, www.nsapprenticeship.ca is required -Self-motivated, and willing to learn -Fire Alarm experience -Minimum of 2 years of trade experience (apprenticeship included) -Experience in Class 1 Division 1 -Perform well with mechanical ability and a thorough knowledge of the principles of electricity, circuitry, and power distribution systems, and familiarity with the materials and techniques of construction -Excellent interpersonal relationship skills -Building Automation Controls experience -Valid Driver’s License -Knowledge of Nova Scotia Electrical Safety Code, Occupational Health and Safety Act, and all other applicable legislation required -Good writing and verbal communication skills
