The Role

Overview

Assist in planning and delivering recreational activities and ADL support for elderly participants.

Tasks

-Assists Activities Director/Recreation Therapist in assessing and reassessing participants’ functional status in relationship to participation in recreational activities. -Leads and/or assists in large groups, small groups 1:1’s and individual activities (exercise, arts and crafts, games, current events, sensory, etc. -Assists with the development and implementation of recreational activities that meet the interests, needs and capabilities of participants under the supervision of Activities Director or Recreation Therapist. -Completes assigned activity charting and reporting as assigned by Activities Director or Recreation Therapist. -Assists with preparing and cleaning up after activities. -Assists in the organizing of special events, outings as assigned. -Attends any meetings regarding participant care as assigned by Activities Director or Recreation Therapist.

What You Bring

-Knowledge of the principles’ practices standards and techniques of the provision of recreational activities. -High school diploma or equivalent. -Skilled in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with participants, coworkers, medical staff and the public -Knowledge of how to use and maintain materials and equipment of need to provide recreational activities -Must have one year’s experience working with the elderly population. -Knowledge of safety requirements when providing and implementing recreational. -One year’s experience of providing activities programming to elderly population preferred
