The Role
Overview
Lead transportation design projects from planning to delivery for NCDOT and other clients.

Tasks
-Contribute to business development by identifying new opportunities and supporting proposal and pursuit efforts. -Manage and organize multiple concurrent projects while ensuring alignment with firm standards and client objectives. -Prepare and review design plans, technical specifications, cost estimates, and project documentation to ensure quality, accuracy, and compliance with applicable standards. -Lead and manage all phases of transportation design projects, including planning, preliminary and final design, permitting, and construction support. -Oversee project budgets, schedules, and deliverables to meet performance and contractual expectations. -Provide technical mentorship and guidance to design staff and junior engineers. -Coordinate with departments to integrate design and field data effectively. -Serve as the primary client contact, maintaining strong relationships with NCDOT, municipalities, and other public and private clients.

What You Bring
-Proven engineering analysis and sound judgment in technical decision-making. -Strong leadership, organization, and multitasking skills with a proactive and self-motivated approach. -Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in transportation design, with demonstrated success in managing roadway and highway design projects. -Experience with survey coordination, data management, and integration of survey data into design models is beneficial. -Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (BSCE) or Civil Engineering Technology (BSCET) from an accredited institution. -Strong understanding of transportation design standards, including AASHTO, MUTCD, and NCDOT guidelines. -Excellent written and verbal communication skills for client interaction, reporting, and team collaboration. -NCDOT/DOT project experience preferred. -Professional Engineer (PE) license required. -Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including MS Project for scheduling and project tracking. -Proficient in MicroStation, Geopak, Corridor Modeling, and OpenRoads; familiarity with 3D modeling workflows preferred. -Experience with NCDOT IPD/PD and other project delivery methods.
