Tasks

-Work collaboratively with the engineer-in-charge and other technical professionals on assigned project phases, segments, checks, and tasks. -Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures. -Mentor junior designers and drafters, offering technical guidance and design oversight. -Coordinate designs with multidisciplinary teams (civil, mechanical, electrical) and ensure compliance with codes, standards, and best practices. -The position involves drafting and designing opportunities on power generation, renewable energy, and substation projects that include civil-site development 3D modeling, design, and detailing. Most projects occur within the United States with some opportunities to work on the international market projects -Over time the successful candidate will be able to perform site plans, grading, storm water management piped systems and detention basins, wastewater management piped systems and infiltration fields, and erosion control design -Assure plans adhere to city code, state and federal regulations.

What You Bring

-Site development experience, including the ability to create grading plans and details, erosion control design, retaining wall design and site survey coordinate systems -Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in closely related discipline is preferred. -AutoCAD Civil3D or MicroStation Open-Roads (In-Roads) experience -Analytical mindset with an ability to exercise sound judgement in evaluating situations and making decisions. -You’ll help us serve a diverse client base- (Independent Power Producers, Municipal Electric Utilities, Investor-Owned Utilities, Contractors, and Developers,) address their challenges and implementing power grid systems of the future. Get experience in a wide range of power plant technologies including biomass, municipal waste, geothermal, hydrogen, fossil fuel, carbon capture, battery energy storage, hydro, and solar. Work on projects for multiple POWER/WSP Divisions (Power Generation, Power Delivery, Facilities, and Federal.) -Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, follow instruction, work independently, and comply with company policies. -High School Diploma. -Minimum of 11 years of relevant post education experience in discipline with prior drafting and design support experience. -Strong interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to a technical and non-technical audience. -Civil-site development design project experience in any industry -Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies. -Experience opportunities can include field visits, coordination with contractors, and interface with permitting officials -Experience in: • Model an existing surface from survey data • Model proposed Grading using feature lines and/or grading tools • Model road designs using alignments and/or corridors • Vehicle access design from public roads to proposed improvements with Auto-Turn or Autodesk Vehicle Tracking • Knowledge of industry-standard storm-water pipe, wastewater pipe, concrete, and rebar detailing practices -Highly proficient self-leadership with attention to detail, results orientation, and managing multiple priorities in a dynamic work environment. -Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
