The Role

Tasks

-Prepare detailed investigation reports summarizing facts, findings, and recommended actions. -Coordinate with Legal on privileged investigations and risk mitigation strategies. -Plan and execute investigations, including defining scope, allegations, objectives, and timelines. -Advise on recommendations for remediation, clearly explaining why the recommendation is important and the potential risks associated with not accepting the recommendation proposed. -Interview complainants, respondents, and witnesses using structured techniques to elicit relevant facts. -Evaluate credibility using established standards. -Identify and recommend to HR and leaders appropriate interim measures to protect the employees and the company. -Make factual findings based on the evidence presented -- "inconclusive" is not an acceptable outcome. -Maintain secure and confidential investigation files, including notes, reports, and evidence. -Assist with remediation, as needed. -Use platforms like Navex Ethicspoint and Microsoft programs for case tracking and documentation. -Conduct intake interviews with complainants and assess the need for formal investigation based on initial evidence. -Inform HR and leaders of workplace complaints received and the need to investigate. -Ensure investigations comply with applicable laws and internal policies. -Adheres to the Code of Conduct, Confidentiality Agreement, and Company Safety Policy. -Maintain confidentiality and neutrality throughout the process. -Provide guidance to managers and employees on investigation procedures.

What You Bring

-Strong critical thinking, analysis, and interviewing skills, with the ability to assess credibility and synthesize complex information into clear and objective findings. -Completion of a recognized investigation training program (e.g. Association of Workplace Investigators, SHRM Workplace Investigations Specialty credentials, or Cornell’s Internal Investigations Certificate) is highly preferred. -High School diploma or equivalent. -High level of discretion, integrity, and professionalism in handling sensitive matters. -Demonstrated knowledge of employment laws and regulations, including Title VII, ADA, FMLA, FLSA, and state-specific labor codes. -Strong time management and organizational skills with an ability to handle multiple cases simultaneously. -Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. -Clearly communicate factual findings to HR and leadership, identifying relevant facts and explaining the relevance clearly and concisely. -A minimum of 3 years of experience in a human resources position with a focus on compliance, legal issues, and regulatory affairs. -Strong written and oral communication skills and a comfort level with direct communication and addressing conflict. -Through a familiarity with applicable employment laws, identify and gather relevant facts for leadership to understand and mitigate risk.
