Junior Structural CAD Technician

Overview

Assist engineers with bridge drafting, 3D modeling, calculations, and QC using OpenBridge/Road.

Tasks

-Contribute to project production sheets by adding dimensions and laying out plans, title and detail sheets on production sets of plans -Research design options and documents findings -Research applicable design codes and guidelines to ensure design compliance -Perform quality control reviews of design plans and calculations -Work with engineers to develop 3D models using both Open Road Designer and Open Bridge Designer -Provide assistance to engineers using OpenBridge Designer to create bridge detail plans and perform minor design work on bridge projects -Coordinates assignments with project team and supervisor -Prepare minor mathematical calculations and quantity calculations for roadway/bridge projects

What You Bring

-Experience in Open Road Designer is preferred -A satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR) -3-10 years of prior experience with structural and/or roadway drafting -Excellent communication skills and ability to work within a team environment -Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening to ensure a safe and productive work environment. Volkert adheres to federal guidelines, which may include testing for substances such as marijuana. Please note that federal regulations may differ from state-specific guidelines -Degree in Computer Aided Drafting or similar field is preferred -Experience in Autodesk Civil 3D is a plus -Valid driver’s license -Associate degree from a technical or four-year school -Familiar with TxDOT Bridge Detailing Manual and TxDOT Bridge Standards
