Tasks
-Work with cross-functional teams in executing project work. -Ensure adequate levels of equipment and materials are assigned to projects, ensuring that material tests are performed, and materials meet required standards. -Follow standard practices to provide technical assistance that accounts for the proper inspection, construction, and functioning of buildings, highways, roads, bridges, structures, infrastructure, equipment, and/or mechanical systems according to design standard specifications. -Attend pre-construction meetings and answer questions from contractors and other attendees. -Verify load calculations, change orders, interpretation of contract plans and specifications, recognizing moderate to slightly intricate construction, engineering, or survey problems and escalating any differences, errors, or technical problems for appropriate resolution. -Monitor project phasing plans and contractors' work to ensure quality control and contract compliance; documenting work progress and issues arising throughout scope of project. -Comply with safety guidelines and site-specific procedures which include but are not limited to, location data, statistical documentation, studies and surveys, and construction. -Use survey instruments, metering devices, and test equipment to perform inspections on projects of basic to moderate complexity and/or scope, including proposed and existing site conditions, equipment, construction, materials, controls, resources, layout, alignment, and elevation to determine conformance with applicable rules, standards, codes, and construction or operating permits. -Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures. -Comply with client policies and procedures for inspection work under contract. -Assist with calculating payments due to contractors for work completed. -Generate complete, accurate, and concise documentation and specifications related to inspection findings using electronic systems, written/oral feedback, photographs, drawings, diagrams, illustrations, spreadsheets, and reports. -Collect, compile, and analyze data from the physical work site, surveys, structural plans, blueprints, schematics, data, technical drawings, flow diagrams, material sampling, computer-generated reports, and other matrices for field inspection activities. -Work collaboratively with other professionals, scientists, engineers, inspectors, project control, and technicians on assigned inspection phases, checks, and tasks. -Engage in occasional contact with client and contractor personnel to schedule and coordinate project inspection.

-Excellent construction inspection principles, field inspection practices, process, methods and techniques. -Ability to provide input and feedback to others in the field such as subcontractors and work colleagues to consistently complete tasks safely, efficiently, and accurately according to specifications. -Analytical mindset to exercise sound judgement in evaluating situations and making decisions. -Essential professional licensure/certification. -Valid state driver’s license. -Knowledge of relevant construction codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements. -Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies. -Minimum of 7 years of relevant post education experience in discipline with prior construction inspection experience. -High School Diploma. -Proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools. -Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek. -Associate’s Degree in closely related discipline is preferred. -Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives. -Competent self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment. -Must successfully complete and pass WSP’s Motor Vehicle screening. -Capable critical thinking and problem-solving skills required to apply technical knowledge to reach conclusions from inspection and testing results, data collation, load calculations, statistical analysis and arriving at the most effective, economical, and logical solution. -Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to a technical and non-technical audience. -Kentucky Certifications for Grade & Drain Inspector
