Tasks
-Perform pipe stress analysis utilizing software such as CAESAR II, NozzlePro, etc. -Establish and document the mechanical systems basis of design and in doing so provide clarification, qualifications and design assumptions regarding relevant design issues. -Perform sizing and selection of equipment and systems. -Work with owner and construction management team to validate construction cost and provide value-engineering options as necessary. -Apply your knowledge in Food & Personal Care, Bioprocessing, Oil & Gas, Chemical, Power, Manufacturing and Industrial and shipbuilding facilities/systems (Conceptual Design). -Interpret scopes-of-work and translate them into executable project plans. -Oversee piping group activities related to mechanical equipment, piping and 3D modeling to support mechanical deliverables. -Develop scopes of work based on RFPs and pre-bid meetings with clients. -Contribute to the preparation of construction documents including drawings, specifications, calculations, and equipment datasheets. -Perform detailed reviews of piping isometrics, piping plans, pipe specifications, P&IDs, and other design documents. -Mentor other mechanical engineers and designers.Construction Support: -Oversee problem solving efforts for field oversights and addressing RFI’s. -Perform field inspections and review of reports. -Perform and document engineering calculations related to mechanical engineering for the purpose of selecting code compliant systems and equipment. -Work with Project Engineer/Manager to ensure that project schedule will be met, and complete documents provided for each deliverable. -Confirm and review applicable codes and standards such as, but not limited to, the IBC, ASME, API, PIP and NFPA. -Ensure understanding and compliance with owner’s requirements of the facility or corporate standards related to mechanical design. -Work with the project team to design a cohesive, technically acceptable, and optimized piping system. -Manage project mechanical engineering and design team and oversee all aspects of the mechanical scope related primarily to equipment and piping.

What You Bring
-Experience in managing personnel and project engineering. -Pipe stress analysis experience utilizing software such as CAESAR II. -Significant experience designing and installing retrofits and upgrades at manufacturing, industrial, and shipbuilding facilities. -Client projects for this position require U.S. Citizenship. -Employment with Merrick is contingent upon completion of a pre-employment background check, MVR check, and drug screen. -Experience leading teams of engineers on design projects. -Registered Professional Engineer or ability to obtain your PE within the first year of employment. -HVAC and plumbing design for industrial facilities. -Twelve (12)+ years industry experience. -Experience with Design/Build and EPC projects. -Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from ABET accredited program required. -Knowledge of ASME B31.3 and B31.1, ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel codes, PIP and API codes.
