The Role

Lead senior electrical engineer for HV/EHV substation & HVDC design, mentoring and client liaison.

Tasks

-Lead design reviews during engineering phase, including cross functional teams -Provide technical leadership in business development -Lead and direct others during detailed design of HVDC converter station balance of plant design as well as design of all interfaces to substation -Develop and lead internal/external technical training at corporate events -Develop technical specifications for HV, EHV, and FACTS Substation equipment -Serve as the primary liaison between the project team, OEMs and utility clients -Develop performance specifications for HVDC converter station -Regularly prepare and present white papers and technical content marketing pieces. -Organize and oversee the implementation of POWER’s and WSP's quality process and management system. Work to produce deliverables that meet internal/external quality expectations -Serve as a SME in the company's KMP (Knowledge Management Program) for HVDC and Flexible AC Transmission Systems (FACTS) -Mentor and provide guidance to other engineers -As SME (Subject Matter Expert), review test plans, witness and approve factory acceptance tests, review commissioning plans and provide technical support during commissioning tests

What You Bring

-Knowledge base and skill set in the in application and procurement of HVDC converter station systems for the electric utility market -BSEE (BS in Electrical Engineering) or BSEET (BS in Electrical Engineering Technology) degree, from an accredited university preferably with a power option. MSEE (MS in Electrical Engineering) strongly preferred. -Strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills in order to work effectively with internal team members and external client personnel -Experience in Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) of HVAC and HVDC equipment, such as transformers, reactors, cable system etc. -Professional Engineering license (PE) is preferred but candidate with equivalent combination of education and experience with the ability to obtain a PE license. -Extensive knowledge base and skill set in the application and purchasing of power transformers for the electric utility market -Experience in mentoring lesser experienced members enabling them to execute technically challenging work that they could not perform without technical guidance -Actively engaged in leadership positions within nationally recognized technical societies -Experience in 15kV through 500kV AC substations and HVDC converter station design -Twenty (20) or more years’ experience in utility substation market is preferred with fifteen (15) years or more preferred in the HVAC converter stations, FACTS and related systems
