The Role

Tasks

-Adjudicate manage employee STD claims in accordance with legislative requirements and Suncor’s case management process and practices -Manage workers’ compensation claims in accordance with legislative requirements and Suncor’s case management process and practices, including conducting cost relief and appeals activities -Maintain up-to-date and accurate electronic documentation and internal records -Exercise ethical and professional judgment in determining the appropriate collection, use, and disclosure of personal health information -Assess employee fitness to work and communicate restrictions and limitations to the business area -Identify and arrange suitable medical interventions to assist employees in their recovery -Educate and inform key stakeholders on the requirements of short-term, long-term, and WCB programs, including roles, responsibilities, expectations, and consequences -Collect information and collaborate with stakeholders to develop an appropriate transitional return to work plan to facilitate safe, timely, and sustainable return to work

What You Bring

-Strong knowledge of best practices in disability management and the relevant legislation -A Bachelor’s Degree in the medical or human sciences fields, or an equivalent combination of education and experience in the medical or insurance fields -Our business professional roles follow internal compensation guidelines, and the pay band will generally be based years of experience and scope of work -Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with Cority software is considered an asset -Basic knowledge of STD plans and long-term disability contracts -Two - five years of claims and / or disability management experience, specifically working with WCB claims -Expert knowledge of workers’ compensation legislation, policies, and procedures -Exceptional communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills

Benefits

-Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday -This is an office-based role. You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 – 6th Ave S.W.
