Develop initial design ideas for new or improved transport infrastructure, such as junction improvements or pedestrian priority scheme.
Use mathematical and computer simulation models to forecast the effects of road improvements, policy changes and/or public transport schemes.
Design and interpret transport and travel surveys
Work with project teams to develop design solutions that meet client requirements and regulatory standards.
Preparation of detailed technical reports & proposals.
Implementing digital technology to increase delivery efficiency or enhance project outcomes.
Leading the technical work for senior staff and clients.
Supporting delivery of our Transport Planning Win strategy/pipeline and skills development strategy.
Complete assigned tasks in accordance with quality, timescales, and budgeted hours set by the team lead.
Ensure all design work is carried out in accordance with Mott MacDonald's quality standard procedures.
Assess infrastructure requirements (access, car parking, bus stops, cycle parking, etc) of new developments to support planning applications or to inform local authority development plans.

Strong interpersonal skills supporting collaborative working with colleagues.
Previous experience in UK Transport Policy.
Proficient in preliminary junction design (Autodesk).
Experienced in junction modelling (Linsig).
Technical knowledge in transport planning in at least one of the following; business case, active travel, travel choice and behaviour, public transport, decarbonising transport, strategic transport connectivity, transport studies and development planning experience (or a combination of) for projects with national and / or local government clients, agencies, and private sector.
Agile working
You will possess a Bachelor's or postgraduate degree in Planning/Urban Planning/Transport Planning, or an equivalent qualification, along with more than 8+ years of post-graduate experience in Planning.
Experience handling large datasets.
Member of recognised institution.
Chartered status or equivalent from related professional organisation (s).
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills - finding a range of solutions, understanding their effects and making recommendations.
Experience in winning and delivering Transport Planning projects, leading teams and engaging with Clients
Some coding / machine learning expertise & GIS capability (ESRI).
Experience of working with teams in other parts of the world.
Good command of Microsoft Office package.
Membership of related professional organisation (s).
Ability to work as part of a team is a must with ability to work unsupervised or minimum supervision.
