Substation Engineer

Overview

Design and develop electrical substation drawings, calculations, and specifications.

Tasks

-Work closely with Engineers to develop foundation and structure drawings, including mounting patterns and equipment layouts. -Develop electrical substation drawings including single line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, physical layouts, sections and elevations, and other related details and sketches -Develop technical equipment and construction specifications, work scopes, estimates, and recommendation reports as needed by the project -Work closely with designers and drafters to develop drawings of high quality both technically and aesthetically -Perform design calculations and analysis such as grounding system analysis, lightning protection, voltage drop, power system sizing (AC and DC), and other industry-standard calculations

What You Bring

-Ability to use drafting software(s) preferred -Ability and willingness to work occasional extra hours to support clients and deadlines, including weekends -Experience with Protection and Control design, including familiarity with one-line diagrams of several different station configurations. -2-5 years experience in electrical design involving power systems. -Must be proficient with typical office software such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Windows -Familiarity with ANSI, IEEE, NEC, NEMA, and other industry standards and their applicability to diverse types of substations -Must be self-motivated and poses good time management skills to complete tasks and projects with a moderate amount of supervision -Strong technical writing skills -Unless otherwise noted, we do not sponsor employees for work authorization in the U.S. for this position. -Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Effective communication skills both written and verbal -Must be 18 years of age or older. -Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline -All job offers are subject to pre-employment drug screening and a background check.
