The Role

Overview

Design and develop fire alarm systems, create drawings, coordinate with engineers.

Tasks

-Incorporate feedback into BIM (Building Information Modeling) models and system designs. -Keep up to date on all modern advancement in manufacturer’s equipment, Building Codes changes, and software technologies. -Attend regular development meetings. -Re-create new (MEP) and structural drawings under existing conditions for design coordination. -Provide accurate electrical schematics per client conditions and analyze and track technical specifications including dimensions, arrangements, and installation procedures. -Assist project managers with permits, system changes/modifications, and tracking project changes and revisions. -Make revisions to drawings, plans, & models as requested. -Follow all OSHA standards and laws, and incorporate safety standards into designs. -Read and interpret architectural, structural and MEP drawings. -Pursue ongoing education in the Fire Safety field. -Adheres to the Code of Conduct, Confidentiality Agreement, and Company Safety Policy. -While performing the essential functions of this job the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands or arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and is occasionally required to lift and/or move heavy objects. -Submit installation drawings for approval to AHJ. -Apply and Submit drawings for approval to AHJ (installation permits). -Design of Fire and Alarm System drawings, as-built drawings, system calculations, and Riser diagrams. -Address limitations of technologies and materials involved in the design & CAD process.

What You Bring

-Electrical Construction industry knowledge (preferred) -Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. -Ability to think in a three-dimensional manner. -Minimum 2 years working in a professional environment. -At least 2 years of experience utilizing AutoCAD software. -Bachelor's or Certifications (preferred) -2-year degree in related field (preferred) -The work also requires the following physical abilities in order to perform the essential job functions: balancing, climbing, grasping, hearing, mental acuity, pulling, pushing, repetitive motion, speaking, talking, and visual acuity.
