The Role
Overview
Design and manage water resource and drainage systems for transportation projects in NC.

Tasks
-Assist with the development of specifications, cost estimates, and technical reports -Establish working relationships with internal disciples and project managers within STV -Provide professional design services for transportation improvement projects, including storm drains, culverts, storm water management, stormwater BMPs, ESD/LID facilities, and erosion and sediment control -Coordinate permitting through various water management districts including NPDES permit requirements of municipalities and other government entities -Produce quality deliverables within the established schedule and budget -Prepare Storm Water Management Reports and culvert/bridge hydrologic & hydraulic studies -Assist in delivering innovative, quality drainage designs on primarily Alternative Delivery projects in NC and the Southeast -Prepare various technical reports in support of transportation project drainage designs -Mentor junior staff in drainage design software use & applications, best practices, design criteria, etc. -Participate in project meetings with client teams

What You Bring
-Strong attention to detail with tendency to self-check work prior to formal QC -Ability to obtain an NC PE License preferred -M.S. in Engineering is a plus -The ideal candidate will have a B.S. in Engineering -Use hydrologic and hydraulic design software such as OpenRoads Designer (StormCAD), HEC-HMS, and HEC-RAS -Use CADD and mapping software including MicroStation, AutoCAD, and ESRI ArcGIS -A minimum of 5+ years of experience of Water Resources Engineering / Transportation Drainage Design- design of storm drain systems, culverts, storm water management facilities, BMPs, erosion and sediment control, hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, floodplain studies, environmental permitting, and cost estimating -Strong inter-personal skills for client interaction and collaboration with other engineering disciplines -Experience working with NCDOT and other NC municipalities is desired
