Controls Engineer

Overview

Provide controls support for aero‑derivative turbine test cells, handling DAS, DCS, PLC/HMI programming, and system upgrades.

Tasks

-Provide test cell software tool support -Load bank control troubleshooting, repair, programming, and upgrade -Assist with troubleshooting and resolution of engine and test facility operational issues -Support design, troubleshooting, and upgrade of Woodward controls system -Support data acquisition system (DAS\SCADA) troubleshooting and upgrade -Work with test engineering team to integrate test cell controls -HMI development and display panel programming -Provide test cell software and programming support (VM, networking, system interfaces) -Support test cell distributed controls (DCS) troubleshooting, repair, programming, and upgrade -Assist with test systems upgrades to accommodate new products or replacement of obsolete equipment

-Programming Emerson controls -Lean Manufacturing experience driving process improvements -Customer-focused mindset with proven ability to respond quickly to customer needs -Working knowledge of the basic theory of industrial control system applications, design, and operation -Calspan ASE2000 DAS experience -Ability to read, write, and communicate in English language. -Strong attention to detail -Six Sigma certification -Gas compressor controls troubleshooting, repair, programming, and upgrade -Bachelor of Science in Mechatronics/Electronic/Electrical/Mechanical or two-year degree (Associates or Technical) -HMI and display panel programming -Experience with Bently Nevada vibration monitors -Excellent verbal and written communication skills -Experience with distributed control systems (DCS) -PLC programming (Woodward, Emerson, and GE) -Programming Woodward controls -Strong organizational skills -Experience working with rotating industrial machinery, i.e. reciprocating engines, turbine engines, compressors, pumps, etc. -Test cell experience -Ability to prioritize and multitask -At least 5+ years of relevant controls working experience -Working knowledge of PLC (programmable logic controller) software -Work flexibility to support varying work hours, including weekends, and holidays as required -Experience with high-speed data acquisition systems (DAS) -Previous experience in office administration or other related fields
