Apprentice Carpenter

Overview

Construct and maintain buildings and structures as a carpenter apprentice.

Tasks

-Perform renovations as required -Cement work including: mix and pour material and pouring cement for stairs, and framing for cement -Assemble and fasten materials to make framework or props, using hand tools and wood screws, nails, dowel pins or glue. -Construct and maintain structural woodwork, shelving, flooring, tables, chairs, etc. -Make repairs to the internal and external structure -Lay building foundations. -Prefabrication, erection, and removal of structural formwork for concrete foundations, wall columns, beams, slabs, and shafts, including re-shoring.

What You Bring

-Currently working in the trade -Willing to work Nigh Shift as needed -Willing to work in Calgary and surrounding areas -Currently indentured into an Apprenticeship Program, Carpenter. -CSTS training is a prerequisite for employment. If you do not have this training, it can be made available. -Knowledge of safe operation of basic hand and power tools -Mathematical and analytical skills necessary to do material and labour estimates -Motivated, Hardworking, able to work long hours and Saturdays if needed -Knowledge of carpentry and building maintenance -Knowledge of workplace safety, and safe lifting and handling procedures -One or more years of experience as a carpenter
