Senior Roadway/Highway Design Engineer

Overview

Design and manage roadway/highway infrastructure projects for various clients.

Tasks

-Meets with clients and oversees all aspects of the project to ensure client satisfaction in project deliveries. -Exercises considerable latitude in determining technical objectives of assignment. -Oversees the development and implementation of technical approach and the completion of complex work which require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity. -Prepares designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings and working drawings. -Initiates and creates project designs and plans with responsibility for preparing presentation and design drawings. -Manages communication and collaboration with full design team and client. -Conducts interdisciplinary review of project deliverables and develops estimates of technical efforts for projects. -May oversee the work of less experienced designers. -Develops estimates of technical efforts for projects.

What You Bring

-Minimum of 4 years of experience managing transportation tasks and/or projects -Applies advanced knowledge to develop design procedures software and tools to facilitate high quality cost-effective technical project activities. -Bachelor's degree in engineering or construction management. -Established relationships with local clients. -Familiarity with IDOT, ISTHA, and local agency specifications, policies, and procedures. -Bachelor's degree plus 8 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education. -Alternative delivery experience. -Ability to proactively communicate. -Serves as a fully capable professional in the field with minimal direction. -Professional Engineer license -Computer proficiency in MS Word and Excel, CAD and Design software packages.
