Tasks

-Personnel management, including mentoring and training technical staff. -Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures. -Fiber optics installation, termination, and testing. -ITS field controllers for surveillance and ramp metering.

What You Bring

-Microsoft SQL Server database administration and reporting. -Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible professional experience in system design, development, and/or system/database administration. -System monitoring, troubleshooting, and problem resolution in mission-critical environments. -Microsoft Excel and Access for data analysis and management. -Strong oral and written communication skills. -Comprehensive understanding of ITS architecture and interrelationships between central systems, field devices, and communications infrastructure. -Experience in documenting research and development activities, including project plans and specifications. -Ability to draft and review Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) specifications for new projects and system enhancements. -Strong oral and written communication skills to work effectively with NYSDOT, WSP, and other stakeholders. -Traffic signal systems and Advanced Traffic Management Systems (ATMS) or equivalent. -Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address design and implementation challenges, including during the construction phase. -Standard IT networking certifications (e.g., CCNA, CCNP, Network+ or equivalent). -Ability to bring forward emerging technologies and identify opportunities for innovation and grant offerings. -Detection technologies (video, radar, acoustic, loops, etc.). -Ability to read and interpret system design and record drawings. -Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, Computer Science, Information Sciences, or a closely related field as applicable -Experience developing Requests for Proposals (RFPs) to ensure accurate and competitive vendor bids. -Ability to respond effectively to problem situations and make sound technical decisions under pressure. -Experience developing conceptual ITS and communication system designs through construction, integration, and testing. -Experience with research and development of advanced ITS technologies, including; design, development, testing, and evaluation. -Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to field locations as required. -Demonstrated personnel management experience, including mentoring and training new staff. -Experience coordinating the flow of information between ITS installation/maintenance contracts and TMC operations staff. -Master’s degree in engineering, Computer Science, Information Sciences, or a closely related field. -Knowledge of Connected Vehicle technologies (V2X, V2V, and V2I). -Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies. -Proficiency with computer software applications, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint), spreadsheets, and databases. -Knowledge of systems networking and IT infrastructure management. -Traffic cameras, automated incident detection systems (AID), and digital message displays -Telecommunications (cellular, serial, TCP/IP, etc.).
