Tasks

-Ongoing training and assistance with obtaining industry certifications. -Perform and document quality assurance (QA) inspections on contractor's work for compliance to scope of work, as well as the utility’s and industry’s specifications. -Conduct hazard tree assessments. -Assist in the planning and creation of the vegetation clearing scope of work to account for all NERC and utility right of way standards and expectations. -Perform safety oversight of contractors to ensure compliance with all applicable safety standards during all vegetation clearing activities. -Communicate daily with the utility client, contractors, landowners, and the general public. -Drive a company vehicle safely to work locations for the organization. -Contact property owners to discuss and obtain required written permission to perform vegetation work where necessary. -Perform duties in a manner that will promote and maintain good public relations. -Develop a comprehensive understanding of all relevant utility and environmental standards and expectations. -Complete work summaries, updated QA reports and progress report updates weekly with a high level of detail.

What You Bring

-Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) a plus. -Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to represent AMS and its services in a professional and positive manner. -Local tree identification skills. -1-3 years prior experience in Forestry, Arboriculture, Horticulture or tree-related green industry. -1-3 years prior experience in Utility Vegetation Management. -Must be self-motivated, able to work independently, outdoors in various weather conditions and terrain. -Ability to work safely and independently in remote areas with limited supervision. -Ability to work independently and as part of a team. -ISA Arborist Certification is a plus. -Must have basic computer skills (Microsoft Office). -All job offers are subject to pre-employment drug screening and a background check. -Knowledge of common computer applications and ability to learn new programs. -Must have strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, the ability to multi-task and an attention to detail. -Associates or Bachelors’ degree in Forestry, Environmental Science, or related discipline preferred. -Familiarity with powerline nomenclature and construction a plus. -Valid driver’s license and safe driving record. -Ability to accurately read maps and judge spatial distances. -Participation in Employee Referral Program (must meet eligibility requirements). -Prior experience with GIS Mapping Programs a plus. -Willingness to work storm duty following catastrophic weather events that effect the Utility. -Unless otherwise noted, we do not sponsor employees for work authorization in the U.S. for this position.
