Overview

Maintain and troubleshoot utility-scale solar PV plant and switchgear

Tasks

-Identify and address electrical, environmental, and safety hazards. -Prepare and implement switching and clearance orders. -Support operational goals by mentoring junior staff and assisting teammates. -Conduct preventive and routine maintenance on solar equipment and switchgear. -Perform advanced troubleshooting, component repair/replacement, and QA/QC inspections. -Use multimeters and diagnostic tools to measure AC/DC voltage and current. -Perform equipment “status checks,” clear error codes, and make necessary repairs. -Maintain tools, equipment, and a clean, safe work environment. -Perform field maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on all solar facility equipment. -Respond to emergency repairs on an on-call basis. -Ensure compliance with environmental, safety, and regulatory requirements. -Safely operate under all conditions; follow established safety procedures including LOTO and electrical safety. -Monitor assigned sites, manage and update work orders, and document completed tasks.

What You Bring

-Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record. -Minimum 4 years’ experience in solar PV plant maintenance, troubleshooting, and switchgear operation. -Experience with electrical testing tools (IR equipment, IV curve tracing). -Hands-on experience in solar operations, troubleshooting, and industrial machine repair/maintenance. -Proficiency with standard business software, SCADA systems, and CMMS preferred. -Experience with TMEIC, Satcon or SMA central inverters preferred. -Physical requirements: Ability to stand, walk, climb ladders, and work at heights; lift a minimum of 50 pounds; and perform tasks in challenging environments. -Ability to work outdoors in varying conditions (heat, cold, inclement weather). -Knowledge of SCADA, DAS, and communication networks. -Effective verbal and written communication skills. -Strong knowledge of electrical fundamentals including measurements, control circuits, and solid-state theory. -Willingness to work nights, on-call and be available for scheduled or emergency maintenance. -Associate’s degree in Electrical Technology or equivalent experience. -Familiarity with California safety and environmental regulations preferred. -Strong understanding of electrical systems, safety procedures, and technical troubleshooting.
