Tasks

-Participate in special operations projects from time to time and provide support to operational optimization or maintenance initiatives -Follow up on recommendations made from regulators to ensure that environmental compliance and mitigation/compensation measures are meeting permit requirements; and/or implement adaptive management measures when and where necessary -Liaise with local stakeholders and stewardship groups to communicate BluEarth’s ongoing commitment to environmental initiatives -Uphold all aspects of BEAM's Health, Safety & Environmental policies, practices, and programs and work to ensure that all activities are administered with the same care and requirements such that occupational accidents, injuries, and other hazards related to BEAM's activities are minimized and/or avoided -Work with the operations team to ensure that the conditions of all BluEarth’s project permits and authorizations are met, documented, and effectively communicated to government agencies -Remain informed of current environmental regulations, standards, and best management practices -Assist with management of existing Operational Parameters and Procedures Reports (OPPRs) and deliver annual reports to government agencies and stakeholders on time and on budget -Leading renewable energy effects assessment, including avian (bird and bat) assessments, aquatic (fish and fish habitat) assessments, and vegetation/terrestrial habitat classification -Act as a primary contact for consulting companies and contractors conducting work for the facilities -Assist the operations team in ensuring compliance with conditions in project-specific Operational Parameters and Procedures (OPP) reports

What You Bring

-Experience with provincial and federal regulatory agencies and permitting requirements in British Columbia -Highly flexible and able to quickly adapt to changing priorities -Ability to work outside regular office hours as required -Minimum of 5 years experience with environmental studies and field work, in the natural resources sector, with British Columbia specific experience being an asset -Ability to plan, schedule, track, and monitor permitting tasks and activities -Experience in the hydroelectricity / renewable energy industry considered an asset -Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills -Degree or a technical diploma in Environmental Science, Biology & Management -Minimum 5 years of experience in renewable energy and/or environmental assessment, natural resource monitoring, wildlife, and habitat impact assessment -Eagerness to learn and join an experienced team of renewable energy professionals -An understanding of species at risk legislation, impact assessment, and approval process -Experience working with multi-disciplinary teams and interacting with diverse stakeholders -Satisfactory drivers abstract and insurance history report -Must be legally entitled to work in Canada -Strong sense of ownership for individual tasks and overall team objectives -Ability to travel within Canada and the U.S. -Ability to work outside under challenging environmental conditions, including heat and cold -Demonstrated ability to provide project support to multiple concurrent projects -Valid class 5 driver’s license -Experience in the fields common to renewable energy effects assessment, including avian (bird and bat) assessments, aquatic (fish and fish habitat) assessments, and vegetation/terrestrial habitat classification -Ability to work on multiple different projects and manage dynamic timelines and priorities -Ability to travel by helicopter and/or crew boat to sites -Ability to travel to site up to 50% of the time or as required -Proficiency with Microsoft Office, with emphasis on Excel and Word -Basic familiarity with mapping software and shapefiles
