Overview

Design and develop a 1MW alternator for a nuclear microreactor power generator.

Tasks

-Own communications with vendors to source all components to build the generator. -Perform bench testing, dynamic testing, and system testing for all subsystem components and models. -Perform hands-on assembly, rapid prototyping, and integration of high voltage electric motors and generators. -Create 3D models and 2D fabrication drawings in CAD and NX.

What You Bring

This position involves access to technology that is subject to U.S. export controls. Any job offer made will be contingent upon the applicant’s capacity to serve in compliance with U.S. export controls. -Own design, development, and integration of 1MW alternator -Experience in design, manufacturing, and assembly of electric motors. -Fundamental knowledge of permanent magnet electric motors. -Must work 100% onsite at El Segundo HQ. -Knowledge of motor control systems including SVM. -8+ years of generator design. -B.S. in mechanical engineering specializing in electric motors -M.S in Mechanical Engineering specializing in electric motors. -Must be willing to work extended hours and weekends as necessary to accomplish our mission. -5+ years of design experience designing high-voltage and high-power electric motors and/or generators. -Great team player with one team mentality working with turbomachinery, power electronics, thermal, packaging and software teams.
