The Role

Overview

Assist in safety programs, data analysis, training, and compliance on construction sites.

Tasks

-Compile, analyze, and interpret occupational illness and accident statistical data at the project level -Routinely monitor the workforce for unsafe behaviors and coach employees on the correct behaviors when observed -Perform work safely and effectively. Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies. -Work in the company’s health and safety programs at the project level, driving a safety-oriented approach to work -Recommend process and product safety features that will reduce employee exposure to chemical, physical, and biological work hazards -Develop a paperwork management system to track training records to track all safety training initiatives conducted personally or by outside consultants/vendors -Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines. Work overtime and weekends as required. -Interpret safety regulations for the project.

-Willingness to work in a variety of locations across Canada, isolated areas requiring travel and camp accommodations -Regular, reliable attendance -Demonstrated commitment to ethics and integrity -Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills -Highly motivated, with a demonstrated passion for safety excellence and taking initiative -Work productively and meet deadlines timely -Must be pursuing a degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Safety, or a related field of study -Working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Legislation -Team player with the ability to work independently -Proficient in Microsoft Office, fluent in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint -Familiar with construction terminology is an asset -Abilities to work under pressure: respect deadlines, high expectations -Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment -Ability to travel and relocate as business requires -Strong organization, time management, and attention to detail
