The Role

Overview

Manage budgets, schedules, subcontractors, and client relations for construction projects in Ottawa.

Tasks

-Attends client and construction meetings as required and disseminates the information to work force, subcontractors, and suppliers. -Communicates and confers with Foreman on the labour progress and makes financial judgment calls in monthly review on final labour hours. -Maintain safety standards with respect to their projects. -Maintaining safety standards in all aspects of each project. -Responsible for building the budget, procuring equipment and subcontractors while billing and collecting funds for their respective projects in line with the KPI targets as determined by management on a quarterly basis. -Complete monthly financial forecasting reports and participate in project status review meetings. -Participate in estimating turnover meetings, preconstruction meetings, and post-construction meetings. -Manage and coordinate the equipment and systems commissioning process. -Breaks out labour budget and reviews break out with Foremen. -Contributing as necessary to the pre-construction process by reviewing contracts and determining project scope, planning, and estimating before execution. -Attends job site progress walks and is aware of project construction status. -Preparation and monthly update of the work in progress (WIP) forecast sheets. -Reviews Foreman labour plan with budget and input. -Creates purchase orders for suppliers and subcontractors.

What You Bring

-Experience in reading and interpreting mechanical construction drawings and documents. -Ability to work in an office and field environment with a high degree of interaction between management, technical, and maintenance personnel. -Knowledge of construction costs and budgets. -Computer literate in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) and computerized scheduling packages. -Understanding of all facets of the construction process. -Knowledge of basic accounting principles is an asset. -5-10 years experience working as a Project Manager in construction required. -Demonstrates the ability to plan and manage a project schedule. -Post-Secondary degree in construction management, Mechanical engineering, or equivalent experience in the field.
