Onsite environmental monitor for construction projects, ensuring compliance and reporting

Tasks

-Managing internal Project permitting ( e.g. Land Disturbance Authorizations forms). -Ensure that the work complies with the regulations and laws in force as well as with the commitments resulting from environmental authorizations and permits; -Assisting in Environmental Incident reports and investigations. -Reviewing C ontractor – Specific E nvironmental P rotection P lan s (C-SEPP) . -Coordinating wildlife sweeps, surveys, or searches , when required . -Collaborate on exciting projects to develop innovative solutions -Directing quality assurance of environmental monitoring performed by contractors. -Updating and modifying th e E nvironmental M anagement P lan (EMP) to reflect changing environmental requirements or priorities, as required . -Undertaking regular site Inspections ( d aily), and other Performance Assurance activities such as independent monitoring for quality and verification. -Participate in site meetings; -Ensuring that th e EMP and all C-SEPPs are adhered to in accordance with legislation and environmental goals of the project . -Oversee the development of environmental orientation training to all personnel on site. -Write reports of environmental non-conformities and follow up on corrective actions; -Supporting validation activities for internal project a uthorization s of contractor environmental controls being in place, prior to work start. -Undertaking targeted compliance inspections.

What You Bring

-Fluency in French is considered a asset, but not a requirement. -5 + years of relevant experience in environmental and regulatory m anagement of construction sites; -Attention to detail and good organizational skills; -Working knowledge of English (oral and written), including communication with clients and colleagues in other provinces. -Ability to work in integrated teams across multiple disciplines; -Experience with wind energy and/or linear projects, is considered an asset. -Experience in working with engineering consulting firm s or as a contractor is an asset; -Experience in wildlife monitoring , and biology is considered an asset . -Education in engineering or environmental sciences is an asset (technical or bachelor's degree); Masters is considered an asset. -Great motivation to work both independently and as part of a team; -Experience in water quality sampling and monitoring, is considered an asset.
