Maintains violence prevention programs and other duties as assigned to maintain the Canada Line Security Assurance program.
Safely escort others to conduct tours, such as external auditors from time-to-time.
Participates in regular maintenance scheduling and planning meetings to provide HSE oversight and recommendations.
Provides support with maintaining the WorkSafeBC Certificate of Recognition program, Technical Safety BC Safety Management System, and other applicable regulatory requirements.
Supports the implementation of the environmental programs and sustainability initiatives of the Canada Line.
Provides HSE support such as on-the-job audits including hazard identification, conducting risk assessments, implementing the control measures, oversight with projects, acting as the HSE officer, at job sites and during line inspections.
Provides administrative support for the Document Control program as necessary including reviewing and editing documentation.
Produces, delivers, and participates in presentations.
The incumbent is expected to abide by all the established security protocols and support with enhancing the security of the developed systems and the Canada Line as defined within the projects.
Cultivate a strong safety culture in the Company.
Works with worker representatives, managers, external providers, and other agencies closely to provide support and guidance.
Provides on-the-job training for new hires, contractors and other orientations as needed.
Maintains the Risk Register and the Legal Register, reviews the regulatory changes on a periodic basis and provides updates on the applicable changes, works closely with the supervisor to support the implementation of the changes and ensure full compliance with required expectations.
Provides support with reviewing, understanding, implementing, and ensuring compliance with Corporate HSE requirements.
Conduct site visits, audits and inspections from time-to-time.
Provides support with incident investigations, required reports, root cause analysis, claims management, gathers CCTV footage for investigation purposes, verifications, assigned projects, etc.
Provides support with internal and external audits as established by the department.
Provides advice to other department managers for improvement opportunities or risk reduction.
Recognizing and respecting the diversity within the organization and promoting a culture of inclusiveness, ethics and diversity at all times.
Maintains Company communications including bulletin boards, electronic screens and any other HSQE related platforms.
Act as a consultant relative to safety, quality, and environmental procedures, and concerns.
This role has no significant Environmental Aspects associated with it but the incumbent is expected to follow Company policy relative to all matters pertaining to the environment.
Supports and maintains security programs such as: extracting images requested by police, issuing badges and keys to control access, and locker allocation.
Leads the investigation of minor incidents and accidents, including determining root cause, corrective or preventive actions, and follow-up to ensure actions have been implemented effectively.
Provides support with metrics reporting and data analysis.
Ensure all legal requirements are met with regards to safety and the environment.
Coordinates and supports the first aid, hazardous waste, environmental and health management programs.
Maintains proper record keeping and confidentiality practices.

Comprehensive knowledge, practice and application of BC health & safety legislation.
Knowledge in aspects of HSQE, Risk Management and ISO standards for Safety, Quality and Environment is preferred.
Qualified to register as a Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP).
Occupational First Aid Intermediate certificate is preferred.
Certification and experience working as a Canadian Registered Safety Technician (CRST) or Construction Safety Officer (CSO) is an asset.
Capable of understanding the technology and operation of an electrically powered computer-controlled railway system.
Certificate or degree in Occupational Health and Safety preferable; or completion of certificate or graduate degree related to the work performed plus considerable related instructional experience. One to two years of experience in related field preferred.
Ability to abide by AtkinsRéalis’s Code of Conduct especially maintaining confidentiality at all times and avoiding conflict of interest.
Experience working in transit or public industry is preferred.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
Trained to conduct audits and experience auditing is preferred; ISO certified auditor for 9001, 14001, 45001, and COR certified is an asset.
Ability to maintain independent thought and objective pursuit of facts whilst safe guarding the confidentiality of reports and investigation details as needed.
Experience or training in Management Systems including Safety, Security, Quality, Environment is preferred.
Strong skills in writing and making presentations.

Expected compensation for this role is between Pay Range $55,200 - $75,900 annually. Base salaries are determined according to several parameters like skills, experience, and potential impact on the role. Internal and external competitiveness are also taken into account in our offers.
