Overview

Lead a team to develop and deliver environmental approval strategies for water assets.

Tasks

-Supporting strategic direction through reviewing policies, protocols, and position statements, and contributing to research initiatives -Applying expert knowledge of environmental agency expectations to secure statutory approvals and ensure compliance obligations are communicated at asset handover -Fostering a culture of openness, trust, and inclusion, where team members feel valued and empowered -Leading a multi-disciplinary team to develop and implement approvals strategies under relevant State and Commonwealth environmental legislation -Building and maintaining strong relationships with regulators, key customers, and environmental interest groups -Providing technical advice on environmental risks, options analysis, and integration of environmental considerations into business decisions

What You Bring

-Degree level qualification in a relevant field, with substantial experience in environmental processes, risk assessment, approvals, and compliance -Strong understanding of environmental approvals, assessment processes, and strategies to minimise environmental impacts -Knowledge of wastewater issues in the Australian water industry and environmental management principles relevant to the sector -Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence, negotiate, and build partnerships -Proven experience leading environmental specialists to achieve positive environmental outcomes under legislation such as the Environmental Protection Act 1986 and the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 -Demonstrated ability to lead, develop, and inspire a team to deliver on organisational goals
