The Role

Overview

Certified electrician performs maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs in manufacturing plant.

Tasks

-Participate and support 5S program and Energy Conservation Initiative -Preventive Maintenance along with inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing electrical wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits feeders, cable assemblies, lighting fixtures, Hydraulic and pneumatic electronic control systems and devices, and maintaining accurate logs -Ensure all chemicals are disposed of in the appropriated manner as outlined on labels -Capable of providing training, instruction and direction to apprentices or helpers assigned to them during the course of their duties -Use MES when required (e.g. changing line status, reviewing and closing maintenance work orders) -Participate and support Health, Safety and Environmental Management Systems (HSEMS) initiatives as the need arises, conducting routine HSEMS preventive maintenance checks -Plan and layout work assignments from complex blueprints, sketches or verbal instruction and accomplish these assignments with the maximum efficiency -Work with other departments in emergency situations, plant shut down periods, and in times when machinery is not operating to perform all necessary activities to get equipment and machinery back into operation in minimum time

What You Bring

-Must know and keep familiar all national, provincial and local codes as they affect repair, maintenance, safety construction and dismantling of machinery, equipment and structures -Ability to understand mechanical systems, perform basic adjustments, and collaborate on electromechanical troubleshooting -Ability to read, interpret, and create electrical drawings and schematics to diagnose, install, and maintain industrial electrical systems. -Advanced proficiency in PLC systems and programming, including troubleshooting, modifying, and developing logic for automated industrial equipment (Allen Bradley, Siemens, Omron etc.) -Experience in a manufacturing environment is an asset -Knowledge of health and safety practices -Must be flexible for on-call duty on a bi-weekly basis -Able to communicate effectively in English both written and verbally -Be available for after hours call duty for two weeks per month or any other mutually agreed arrangements -Must have Ontario (442A) or interprovincial (Red Seal) certification as an Industrial Electrician
