The Role

Overview

Commercial support for civil projects, handling cost reporting, contracts and client relations

Tasks

-Help ensure that any main contracts entered into have terms and conditions that are appropriate for Barhale, with commercial risks identified -Contribute towards effective interaction between the Commercial Team and the operational site teams -Build and maintain good client relationships -Ensure that the supply chain is engaged appropriately with the correct contract terms and conditions -Ensure robust, accurate and timely cost and value reporting at both project and business unit levels -Ensure accurate cash flow reporting takes place -Help ensure that internal commercial processes are adhered to across the business unit -Liaise with the client, client representatives and other third parties on commercial issues, including agreement of variations, claims and additional payments -Update the monthly CVR, cost and commercial plans -Carry out cost management, including forecasting -Be responsible for subcontract letting, negotiation and financial accounting -Work with site management to forecast predicted spend and cash recovery and ensure that both are kept in line with the target -Hold a good understanding of the processes and procedures used by any JV/Alliance that we are working with, and assist in their development and improvement -Share best practices with others and be proactive in advising site teams on costs and their management of them -Prepare applications for payment

What You Bring

-Ability to work effectively in a team and delegate, but also able to work on own initiative -Excellent organisation and time management skills, with the ability to work to tight deadlines -Previous experience in commercial management and procurement of subcontractors, including chairing regular meetings, measurement and control cycle, certificates, and accruals calculations. -Familiarity with ICE/NEC forms of contract and knowledge and understanding of Construction Law -Leadership & management training and coaching -Ability to demonstrate a good knowledge of monthly reporting and earned value analysis. -HND/degree (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying -Signs (design and fabrication) -Have knowledge and experience in estimation and cost analysis. -Member of RICS or other relevant professional body, or working towards -CSCS card -Previous experience in the construction industry -Excellent communication, numeric and computer literacy skills, proficient in Microsoft Office
