Overview

Entry-level structural engineer designing low‑to‑mid‑rise buildings and producing construction documents.

Tasks

-Attend on-site observation of the work during construction to monitor compliance with Construction Documents. -Be responsible for assigned components of project engineering design. -Utilize BIM and or CADD software to create and modify plans, details, schedules and other Contract Documents following office standards. -Assist in review of construction period submittals. -Assist in field documentation and observations of existing project conditions. -Assist in the development of BIM and or CADD models using existing documentation, plans and surveys. -Assist in the preparation of project specifications and material quantity take-offs for project estimates as directed. -Provide coordination with the architectural and MEP teams. -Maintain up to date knowledge of Codes and Industry Design Standards.

What You Bring

We are currently seeking an entry level Structural Engineer who has taken or anticipates taking the FE exam and plans to pursue Professional Engineering licensure in the field of Structural Engineering. The position will include both design and construction document production as it relates to building design for low to mid-rise structures. Working knowledge of REVIT and analytical software such as RAM, RISA, Enercalc, and/or MathCAD is essential to the position. Strong technical and written communication skills are required. Candidates must be able to prepare clear, complete and accurate drawings, specifications and other project documents utilizing knowledge of engineering drafting practices, BIM technology, CADD software, building materials, construction technology and mathematics. -Experience with RAM Structural System or RISA design software is desirable. -Strong written and verbal communications skills. -Ability to conduct research and stay current with industry trends, codes, and best practices. -U.S. Citizenship required due to potential access to classified information. -Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. -Strong time-management skills including developing personal work schedules, coordinating with project manager needs, and balancing priorities. -Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Civil Engineering with EIT preferred. Application to sit for FE exam is required. -0-2 years of project related experience in building superstructure and foundation design. -Ability to prepare contract documents, calculations and specifications. -Perform basic computations and analysis. -Basic understanding of engineering design principles, drafting practices, building materials, construction methods and engineering standards. -Detail-oriented with the ability to follow established office and design standards. -Strong computer skills, including Revit, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Suite.
