Tasks

-Pull fiber when needed -Identify issues with fiber using red light -Construct proper splice cases -Setting up safety perimeter using signage, cones, safety barriers -Test and troubleshoot fiber using an OTDR -Assist in Fiber optic splicing -Operate splicing equipment -Fill out audit sheets per location (per splice) -Follow all safety rules and regulations -Prepare splice locations, termination points, and installation of splice closures -Clean, maintain, stock, and secure assigned vehicle and equipment daily -Place a mid-sheath splice -Drive and properly use a bucket truck -Flagging traffic when required -Update job completion sheet -Safely operate mechanized equipment such as bucket trucks,

What You Bring

-Knowledge of fiber optic color code and numbers associated -Possess a valid driver’s license or be eligible and willing to obtain the required license for the position. -Ability to travel. -Pre-Trip vehicle inspection (daily) -Previous fiber experience, preferably in the telecommunication industry. -Splice ribbon fiber -Experience splicing fiber including all necessary steps -Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen. -1-3 years’ experience splicing fiber -Flexibility to work in multiple locations -Ability to work flexible hours, which may include nights and weekends -Able to perform all duties in fiber optic construction -Basic knowledge of and ability to hand tools and equipment in a safe manner. -Understanding of terminology used in fiber splicing -Willing and able to work in all weather conditions. -Ability to climb telephone poles and work in a bucket truck and work aloft and climb poles up to 40 feet -A good driving record is required. -Ability to communicate effectively with customers, employees, etc. -Ability to work at night /various hours. -Able to lift/carry 50 lbs regularly without assistance -Basic knowledge of and ability to operate various types of utility trucks and equipment in a safe manner. -Splice loose tube fiber
