As the Health & Safety Manager, you will take ownership of all site safety activity across multiple projects in Essex, ensuring best practice is upheld at all times. You will act as the key point of contact for all H&S matters, driving a positive safety culture and ensuring teams remain compliant with company policies and statutory obligations.

  • Promote the company’s H&S policy and ensure full workforce understanding
  • Support Project Managers with accident investigations and produce timely close-out reports
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of statutory requirements affecting construction operations
  • Review RAMS and verify suitability for tasks carried out
  • Implement and maintain company Health & Safety policies to prevent injury, ill health, damage, and wastage
  • Ensure COSHH compliance and appropriate storage
  • Conduct regular site safety inspections, recording findings and reporting to Site Managers and Directors
  • Ensure suitable site welfare, setup and statutory notices are in place and maintained
  • Oversee permit-to-work processes, ensuring they are completed correctly
  • Challenge and address any unsafe behaviour or failure to meet safety responsibilities
  • Ensure all actions from previous reports are completed within required timescales
  • Ensure all projects remain in a safe, compliant condition at all times
  • Deliver site inductions for operatives and subcontractors
  • Carry out any reasonable H&S-related tasks requested by senior leadership

This role will play a crucial part in ensuring projects operate safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with UK legislation.

  • Confidence working in fast-paced, high-pressure environments
  • Strong knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and engage at all levels
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills
  • Full, clean driving licence
  • Logical decision-making ability and high attention to detail
  • Ability to interpret legislation and apply it practically on-site
  • Previous experience working on UK construction sites
  • NEBOSH Construction Certificate (essential)
