CUSTODIAN - FLOOR CREW (MID-SHIFT)

Overview

Night shift custodian duties cleaning and maintaining Naval Air Station facilities.

Tasks

-Responsible for cleaning window blinds, either Venetian or vertical, as required. -Responsible for ensuring all tables and chairs are cleaned and polished as required. -Timely completion and accuracy of all work. -Responsible for ensuring all dusting (both high and low) areas are maintained as necessary and polish furniture, woodwork, fixtures, and equipment. -Incumbent will clean and sanitize rest room facilities and related fixtures, including drinking fountains, refrigerated water coolers, custodial mop sinks, rest room sinks, urinals, and toilets: replenish supplies in restrooms, etc. -Perform specialized projects such as restoration programs on floors, walls, ceilings, furniture, and other items. -Wash windows (both interior and exterior), mirrors, and walls. Washing windows may require the use of ladders. -Move and arrange furniture and equipment for cleaning and replace when completed. -Responsible for the timely reporting of accidents, injuries, “near-miss”, and hazardous situations. -Tasks may be performed on uneven, inclined, hard, and soft-carpeted floors, cement structures and surfaces, and elevated levels using ladders. -Responsible to sweep, vacuum, mop, wax, strip and polish floors and equipment. -Plan, organize work, and meet all deadlines. -Identify and report building maintenance needs in assigned buildings and facilities.

What You Bring

-Must have excellent communication skills, both oral and written. -High school graduate or equivalent. -Adherence to contract requirements and CSEL policies. -Must be able to pass a background investigation. -Must have excellent organizational skills. -At least 2 years of Janitorial experience. -While performing duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand and/or walk for long periods at a time, use of hands and fingers, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, climb ladders, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk or hear, taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision. -Working closely and harmoniously with fellow workers. -Valid state driver’s license with excellent driving record (must provide current driving record). -Adherence to all safety and health rules and regulations. -Mature judgment and ability to work with little or no supervision. -General knowledge of hand and power tools. -Able to do a variety of tasks on any single day.
