Intermediate Materials Technician

Overview

Conduct field & lab testing of concrete, asphalt, soil, ensuring QA/QC for projects.

Tasks

-Executing on site concrete tests which includes casting cylinders, slump test, and air content test -Collecting soil and asphalt samples on site -Interaction with clients and contractors to provide excellent service and a quick response to their testing needs -Some in-lab work, such as testing concrete cylinders, grain size analysis, Proctor tests, asphalt tests, geotechnical index testing, etc. -Carry out asphalt and concrete coring -Attend staff and project meetings when requested

What You Bring

-Ability to work safely and effectively in field environments on active construction sites -Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects concurrently, meet deadlines, and perform under pressure -Minimum 5 years of experience in concrete, asphalt, and soil testing -Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across diverse teams and client groups -In Place Density testing using a Nuclear Densometer -Willingness to work night shifts and weekends as required -Problem solving of project site issues -Highly organized with strong time management skills -Excellent written and verbal communication skills -Valid Canadian driver’s license -Completion of, or current enrollment in, a recognized Civil Engineering Technology diploma program is considered an asset -Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
